1. What these terms cover

These terms apply to The Bible Dogs app and the Premium subscription inside it. The provider is:

Apple's terms apply as well. You download the app from the App Store, so Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Both apply side by side. Where they conflict, Apple's terms prevail for the use of the app as software, and these terms prevail for everything we offer ourselves. Purchases in the App Store are also governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

2. What the app is, and what it is not

The Bible Dogs is a Christian app for everyday life: the Bible, prayers, devotions, a quiz and small tools for your wellbeing, together with Daisy and Fenny and your own puppy.

The app is not therapy and not medical treatment. It does not replace a doctor, a psychotherapist or a counselling service. If you are struggling or in danger, contact your country's emergency number or a crisis helpline. The app links to findahelpline.com for this.

3. What is free and what the subscription unlocks

You can use the app without a subscription. Among the things that stay free are the verse, prayer and question of the day, all wellbeing tools including SOS, the prayers, and the whole Bible to read.

The Premium subscription unlocks the deeper content, for example every entry in the Bible lists, more quiz rounds, book overviews, Bible search and keeping entries. What exactly is included is shown on the Premium page in the app before you buy. The app keeps growing; we may add and improve content. We will not take away what you bought with your subscription during its term without good reason.

The ✦ in the app are points you earn by using it. They have no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold or paid out.

4. The subscription: purchase, price, renewal

  • Purchase. You buy the subscription in the app with your Apple ID. Apple is your contracting party for the payment. You see the price in your currency before you buy; it includes applicable taxes.
  • Term. The subscription runs for one month or one year, depending on what you choose.
  • Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same term unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. The renewal is charged to your Apple ID within the 24 hours before the end of the current term.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time in your iPhone's Settings: tap your name at the top and choose "Subscriptions". After cancelling, the subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Price changes are announced by Apple in advance. After a price increase the subscription only renews if you agree under Apple's rules.
  • Refunds are decided by Apple. You request them at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Restoring purchases. On a new device, get your subscription back in the app with "Restore purchases", or by signing in with your account.

Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for App Store purchases, which you exercise with Apple, for example at reportaproblem.apple.com. It may end once the digital content has been provided with your consent. Apple's terms govern the details.

5. Your account and your content

You can use the app without an account. If you create one, keep your login details private. You can delete your account in the app at any time: Settings → Account → Delete account. This does not end a running subscription, because it belongs to your Apple ID. Cancel it first.

What you write in the app, such as your gratitude entries, belongs to you. We use it only to store and back it up for you. The privacy policy explains how.

6. Fair use

Please use the app as it is meant to be used. In particular, you may not get around the paywall, use forged receipts, attack the app or its servers, modify or decompile it except where the law expressly allows this, or distribute its content commercially.

7. Rights in the content

The texts, images, characters, voices and design of the app belong to THE BIBLE DOGS e.U. or its licensors. "The Bible Dogs", Daisy and Fenny are our trademarks and characters. You may use the app for yourself, but you may not copy or pass on any of it, except through the app's sharing features.

The Bible texts come from licensed or public-domain translations. Which ones, and under which licence, is shown in the app next to the Bible text and in Settings.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the app reliable, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability, for example of the cloud backup. We may develop and change the app. If we ever discontinue the Premium subscription, we will tell you in good time, and you can use it until the end of the period you paid for.

9. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and for personal injury. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations and only for foreseeable, typical damage. Liability under product liability law and your mandatory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the country where you live. Claims against consumers are brought at the court of their place of residence. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change substantially, we will announce it in the app. The date at the top tells you when they were last revised. For a running subscription, changes that put you in a worse position apply only from the next renewal, and only if you do not cancel before then.
